Our History
After 45 faithful years in Brooklyn Center and two in Maple Grove, our church family moved to Brooklyn Park in 2007 to continue our work. We took the name Northern Light Church of Christ and claimed 2 Corinthians 4:6 as a theme verse: “Let light shine out of darkness!”.
God has put new wind in our sails! He has given us a healthy history, solid shepherds, a working staff, a generous membership, a new building, and a plate full of opportunities for godly growth. God has given us the power to shine.
Our Unfinished Task
Our historic legacy carries with it a passion for Christian unity. Our forebears wanted believers across the land to lay down their denominational baggage and go forward under lighter burden of the Bible alone. Theirs was an idealistic vision, not a condemnation of other confessing Christians. This vision eventually stumbled into some sectarianism. Many lessons were learned. Our task is unfinished but our calling to raise Jesus higher and share His love and forgiveness with a hopeless and divided world is clearer than ever. We have a long way to go. Let’s go together!
